Childhood and Klay’s High school career 

Julie and Mychal Thompson welcomed Klay Alexander Thompson into the world on February 8, 1990, in Los Angeles, California, the United States. His father was a basketball player, while his mother was a volleyball player. Both of his parents were athletes. The first choice in the 1978 NBA draught was his father. Mychel and Trayce, his two brothers, exist.

The family relocated to Lake Oswego, Oregon, when Thompson was two years old. At Oregon, Thompson befriended Kevin Love, the future ‘NBA great. His family relocated to Ladera Ranch, California, twelve years later.

Thompson completed his high school studies at Santa Margarita Catholic High School (SMCHS) in 2008 and received a diploma. However, while in school, Thompson’s love for basketball blossomed. Because of his prowess in the game, he averaged 21 points per game his senior year, helping ‘SMCHS’ to a 30-5 record triumph and a berth in the Division III State Championship.

Klay Thompson played collegiate basketball at ‘Washington State University (WSU), where he was named to the ‘Pac-10 All-Freshman Team’ and Collegehoops.net’s ‘All-Freshman Honorable Mention Team.’ He averaged 12.5 points per game.

In his sophomore year, Thompson led his team ‘Cougars’ to the ‘Great Alaska Shootout Championship.’ He broke multiple records at the championship, including becoming the competition’s “Most Outstanding Player” after tallying a record 43 points in a single game, which was the third-highest total in WSU history. He achieved 1,000 points in the third-fastest time among “Cougars.” Thompson twice won the Pac-10 Player of the Week award and was nominated to the “All-Pac-10 First Team.” He averaged 19.6 points throughout the course of the season.

As Thompson continued to develop his game, his early basketball career flourished. He won his second ‘All-Pac-10 first-team honor, becoming the third ‘Cougar’ to do so. Moreover, he became the first ‘Cougar’ to win ‘Pac-10 Player of the Week three times. He set a tournament record in the 2011 Pac-10 tournament with 43 points and eight three-pointers. His 733 points were a record for a season. Thompson rose to become one of WSU history’s top scorers all-time.

 NBA Career

After his junior season, Klay Thompson decided to stick with the ‘NBA draught. The “Golden State Warriors” chose him with the 11th overall choice in the draught. Thompson developed his abilities across the board, including points per game, shooting percentage, rebounds, assists, steals, and turnovers. By scoring a season-high 27 points against the “New Orleans Hornets,” he broke his mark. After the season, he was named to the “NBA All-Rookie First Team.”

He had a good start to the year 2013 overall. His 32 points against the “Cleveland Cavaliers” were a season-high. He and Stephen Curry became the best shooting team in NBA history, making 483 three-pointers together, a record for any team in the league. Thompson scored 34 points in a playoff game against “San Antonio” in May, setting a career-high.

Thompson surpassed his previous score of 34 points during the 2013–14 season by tallying 38 points, including 5-of-7 three-pointers. By scoring 484 points, he and Curry surpassed their previous mark and broke the NBA record. Throughout the season, Thompson averaged 18.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.

In October 2014, Thompson extended his contract with the “Warriors” for four years. In a game against the “Sacramento Kings” in January 2015, he recorded a then-career-high 52 points with 11 three-pointers. He was selected as a reserve for the 2015 “Western Conference All-Star team” after the month.

When Thompson and Curry hit 525 three-pointers in March 2015, they broke their previous mark by 41 points. It was the finest performance of their careers. The ‘Warriors’ season ended on a high note when they defeated the ‘Cavaliers’ in six games to claim the ‘NBA’ title and break the team’s 40-year championship drought.

In his first 21 games of the 2015–16 season, Thompson averaged 17.2 points per contest. Then, in a game against the “Indiana Pacers,” he recorded a season-high 39 points. After that, the ‘Warriors’ won 24 straight games until losing to the ‘Milwaukee Bucks,’ ending their winning streak.

The ‘Warriors’ 40-year title drought ended in 2015 when Klay Thompson led them to their first ‘NBA Championship.

He was a member of the “All-NBA Third Team” in 2015 and 2016, as well as the “NBA All-Star” three times (from 2015 to 2017).

He owns the NBA records for the most points scored in a quarter, the most threes made in a playoff round, and the most threes made in a game.
